Gas Gauge The gauge stays on or near full until the tank is almost empty. Then the needle drops down to empty and the low fuel light comes on. The new fuel pump and installation cost $700. I had the fuel pump replaced in October 2012. I took my car back to the repair shop when the gauge stopped working in December 2013. The fuel pump has a 2 year warranty.

Pontiac Aztek Questions I have a 2003 Aztek, FWD, AT 250k miles... the fuel gauge is acting erratic, either way past full or empty, it matters not how much fuel is actually in the tank... so I popped for a new delphi fuel pump and sending unit ($300) and spent 8 hours wrestling the tank out, changing it and replacing the tank... turn the key and presto.... same problem, does anyone have a clue what I can "fix" next?
Fuel Gauge Testing Disconnect wire from sending unit at tank. If gauge now reads Full, the trouble is in the sending unit. Disconnect sender terminal wire at dash gauge. If gauge now reads Full, the wire to the sending unit is shorted to ground. Replace wire. Repairs; Look for broken or loose wire in the fuel gauge circuit and within the sending unit.
